Many witches and wizards who will later be on the "filth" list are suspiciously removed from their positions at the Ministry of Magic. • February 1981: Following the death of previous Minister of Magic, Millicent Bagnold, Voldemort takes the helm of the Ministry. • March 1981: All witches and wizards are required to register with their wands at the Ministry of Magic. The classifications are created. • March 1981: Albus Dumbledore is incarcerated at Azkaban. • May 1981: The Marriage and Purification Laws are introduced. Mixed marriages are systematically dissolved between May 1981 and September 1981. Orders are given to divorcees to remarry within one year of the time of the divorce. All marriages will be complete by September of 1982. • October 1981: Members of the Filth begin disappearing. Rumors circulate of murder. • December 1981: Members of the Tainted are forced to relocate and stripped of notoriety. • Spring-Fall 1982: Several Ministry-decreed weddings take place • Lucius Malfoy receives promotion at the Ministry of Magic
